There's almost too much going on here to get it all out right now. It's been a long day and many thoughts are still percolating, but here are some highlights culled from the General Session (which featured Stephen Elop, Macromedia CEO; Kevin Lynch, MM chief software architect; and Bruce Chizen, Adobe CEO, as well as several product managers and Ze Frank to kick it all off!):
- Almost 100 million downloads of Flash Player 8 since its release (that's about 5 million/day!)
- 1.5 million Studio 8 Trial downloads
- Public alphas for Flex Builder 2, AS 3, and Flash Player 8.5 released today
- labs.macromedia.com -- "your source for early looks at emerging products and technologies from Macromedia" (press release)
- Codename: "Apollo" -- "the Universal Client" -- web model on a desktop distribution (looks like some of the concepts behind Central are growing up)
- Not too much can be said about the merger at this point for legal reasons, but Chizen promises "an engagement platform"
