Macromedia officially announced the release of Studio 8 today (August 8 at 8 am) and has started taking pre-orders with a delivery date in September (rigth before MAX of course). Studio 8 now includes Contribute and FlashPaper in addition to upgraded versions of Flash Professional, Dreamweaver and Fireworks. Macromedia has made a series of online serminars available to the public so you can learn more about the upgrade. I can't wait to order my version so I can jump straight into new Flash fun. In honor of the new release, I will be posting Studio 8 stories all day so keep checking in for more updates!

(Page 1)2. Question: Does anyone know if Studio 8 comes bundled with Homesite? (Homesite has traditionally been bundled with Dreamweaver and since the studio comes with Dreamweaver, I wonder if Homesite is therefor bundled with Studio.)
p.s. I also like the change in the Studio's name back to the numerical increment to match the flash player version. So instead of Flash MX 2006, it's simply Flash 8. Good Choice!

5. My mistake. There are still 2 versions of Flash: Professional and Basic. I wonder what the differences are between Professional and Basic this time 'round. I hope they're much more significant than what they were in the previous Basic and Professional versions.

7. as you think about ordering, i was informed on friday by my macromedia rep that pricing would be very favorable for the studio. it was made clear that owning one part of the studio and upgrading it would get you the entire studio and that pricing leading up to the adobe takeover would be very very good.
i look forward to this new studio and hopefully pricing can get folks in before adobe starts to really over charge for this stuff.

1. What I think is interesting is that there doesn't seem to be 2 versions of Flash: Professional and Standard. There just seems to be one professional version available. I think this is a good choice. Even though I had bought Professional in the past, I didn't think that the additional special features professional provided warranted 2 versions of the same product.
I also like Flash Paper. The one thing that annoyed me about viewing PDFs within a web browser is that you had to wait until the Acrobat plug-in loaded to be able to view the PDF document. Also, the added benefit of Flash paper is that the document can be placed within a web page, rather than taking up the entire browser screen. However, with Adobe's acquisition of Macromedia, what is the future like for Flash Paper? I could almost see Flash paper replacing "online" PDFs, which is something Adobe (who creates Acrobat) may not want. What does everyone else think?
