1. You know. This would make learning the periodic table much simpler. It is similar to the technique I used in highschool where I visualized the elements in relation to their number. Each number had a special mental image that I automatically thought of when I saw the number that way I never forgot them. I simply created a mental image of the element or something about it and associated that image with my number image. Very effective. I hear is an old technique though. Pretty cool none the less!

2. Well, about half of the symbols are pretty obvious. For example: "Thorium" shows Thor's hammer (Molljnir). Radium shows a radioactivity symbol. Sodium shows a pile of rock salt. Americanium shows an American-flag smoke detector (Americanium is used in smoke detectors). Europanium shows an Eu flag. etc.

HOWEVER you can click on a symbol for more information about the element, including why the particulr image was chosen. You may learn something...I did!
